Justin Dunn Mustang Sidepull

( Buckaroo Leather )
$189.00

We are proud to work with Justin Dunn to bring you his proven designed signature Sidepull Headstall. Made from the finest quality heavy weight Hermann Oak Harness leather or Black Latigo for a smooth, rich, "broke in" feel. Oiled for that soft supple feel. It is a Side Pull style with a width of 1" with a 3/8" Rope noseband. Finished with Nickel or stainless buckles.

Justin's own words- "The typical question from my clients is, "What bit should I use?" My response is "Why do you want a bit?" I never put a horse in a bit, and none of my trail horses need bits. I prefer to be as natural as possible, and by doing that I have a better relationship with all of my horses. Horses properly taught to use the Sidepull will respond willingly to pressure, not forced to submit through pain. Horses are more relaxed, as tension will not build up in their mouth and transfer to their front legs. Horses are connected muscularly from the tongue to their front legs. I will use my horses on extended pack trips for up to 10 days, with the sidepull and I never have issues with cold weather and metal bits, drinking, or eating. The horse enjoy the overall comfort of not having a bit in their mouths. Trade places with your horse, be a positive leader, and treat them with respect, put them in a sidepull and you will never regret it

The sidepull is available in Small Horse, Cob, Pony, Regular Horse, Large Horse and Mule sizes. Also available in Draft horse sizes!

Matching Buckaroo Leather Breast Collars and Leather Reins are also available. Once you use this leather horse tack you will use no other!

The Reins are sold separately....click here to purchase.

Yes says Justin, you can switch to my sidepull without much effort. The most important thing to remember is to be conscious of the pressure and release with your hands. Be sure your horse understands to give to pressure.
The way I train horses is in a non restraint manner. I will not use my sidepull to try and restrain them. I will allow them to move their feet and will guide them to a stop. This allows them to make the decision to stop the feet, and then I will reinforce their decision by applying pressure with my sidepull. The sidepull is an asking/reinforcing device, not a forcing to submit with pain device. A finished horse in a sidepull will give to 4 oz. of pressure, and respond to it at any speed.
