The history of Santa Maria barbeque goes back to the early Californio-Vaqueros of the 1800's. The ranchers of the Santa Maria Valley in California would host large Spanish style feasts for their Vaqueros (cowboys) after every cattle roundup.
These are Braided in the old Vaquero tradition with a forelock tie, some of the finest braiding we have ever seen. These are one of a kind, Designed to be used for a "get down rig" or for a 2 rein rig. The one on left has extra fine 16 plait cheeks with 32 plait nose and button. In browns and tans feels like Kangaroo. The one on right has 12 plait cheeks with 16 plait nose and button. Has unique Natural rawhide cheeks with verigated rust rawhide and nose and button with reds and burgundys... Both come with a finely braided leather forelock tie as pictured.
